Recovery and recognition in New Bedford

A New Bedford treatment center for addiction made Newsweek’s 2020 list of best centers. The Women’s Addiction Treatment Center at High Point Treatment Center was ranked number 8 on a list of 9 Massachusetts centers that made the list.

In its publication, Newsweek said the rankings were part of its commitment to reporting on all aspects of health care. The magazine worked with global market research firm Statista Inc. to review and determine the rankings. First they identified 20 states with the most addiction treatment centers and then based their reviews on the quality of service, reputation and accreditation.

No other local center was included on the Newsweek list.

Tune in to Wellness Wednesdays at 7 p.m. tonight on the New Bedford Guide Facebook page to hear WATC Site Director Trine Erichsen talk about WATC and the services it provides, as well as how High Point was able to improve its center and earn the Newsweek recognition.

Dr. Erichsen will join Connie Rocha-Mimoso, Director of Community Health Services at Seven Hills Behavioral Health, for a stimulating conversation on the intersection of substance abuse and mental health, recovery in a time of COVID-19, and more.
