Free mental health and substance use screenings available Friday

If you’ve been looking for a good reason to unplug from the outer world and spend some time focused on your own needs, this Saturday will provide the perfect opportunity to take care of yourself.

International Self Care Day on July 24 is a globally recognized day to prioritize self-care where we spend time supporting ourselves and strengthening our mental and physical well-being. Specific self-care steps can include any number of activities from enjoying time outdoors in natural settings, to learning to manage our emotions better, or saying no to too many commitments.

If you’ve had any mental health challenges recently or concerns about your use of substances, one other way to care for yourself is to take time for a mental health or substance use screening. Screenings are one of the quickest ways to assess whether or not an individual’s symptoms are a condition of a mental health or substance use disorder.

This Friday, High Point Treatment Center will be offering these screenings for free in honor of International Self Care Day. Walk-ins are welcome.

Screenings are available at HPTC’s New Bedford Outpatient Clinic from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. No appointment is necessary and there is no cost or insurance needed. See HPTC’s Facebook event page for more information.
