31 tips for your mental health toolbox

We’ve talked about the importance of having tools ready to use to support your mental health. This is true at all stressful times in life, but especially now during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This list is particularly worth sharing because it brings together 31 different strategies that you can use, most of them fairly easy, to boost your mental well-being when needed.

Many will be familiar, but there are some that are surprising like #8: Show some love to someone in your life; and #11 Sometimes, we don't need to add new activities to get more pleasure which refers to finding the joy which is already there.

There are simple activities that can be done in seconds, such as #16 Go ahead and yawn, and more difficult ones, like #14 Go off the grid, meaning unplug from your phone, email and social media.

The list comes from Mental Health America, a Virginia based nonprofit that is “driven by its commitment to promote mental health as a critical part of overall wellness, including prevention services for all; early identification and intervention for those at risk; integrated care, services, and supports for those who need them; with recovery as the goal,” according to its website.

Take a look and give them a try the next time you need an uplifting mental wellness moment.
