Get an inside look at mental health on the Southcoast

Wellness Wednesdays is bringing viewers a treat tonight with special guest appearances by Rev. David Lima and Carl Alves, the individuals who led the Help & Hope Southcoast team and essentially created the mental health campaign and Wellness Wednesdays shows.

If you know either of these gentlemen, then you understand the approach they take to life - beyond helping others - is that when you see a problem, you fix the problem.

Both are optimistic, can-do souls who are on a mission to change the world, or at least the Southcoast, one person at a time.

Rev. Lima is the executive minister of the Inter-Church Council of Greater New Bedford and runs the Greater New Bedford Suicide Prevention Coalition, and Carl is the CEO of PAACA - Positive Action Against Chemical Addiction.

In their roles, and in the many groups they participate in, they work to end homelessness, suicide, substance abuse, and more. They don’t do it alone but there are few individuals who are involved in as many issues and campaigns as they are.

If you’d like to hear more about the work they do, as well as the state of mental health in the region, and the challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic and regional responses to them, check out tonight’s Wellness Wednesday show here at 7 p.m. See you then.
